Nicholas Chandler is a Partner at Duxton Hill. A commercial litigator specialising in fraud, investigations and complex commercial disputes, he returned to Melbourne in late 2025 after more than a decade practising in London, and is building the firm’s commercial disputes practice with a particular focus on fraud, investigations and asset recovery.
Nicholas holds First Class Honours degrees in Law and Arts and a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne. He commenced his career at Mallesons Stephen Jaques and served as Associate to the Chief Justice of Victoria, before moving to London, where he practised at CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang and Slaughter and May.
In London, Nicholas acted in some of the largest and most complex fraud, breach of warranty and white collar matters before the English courts, and in regulatory investigations involving the Financial Conduct Authority, the Serious Fraud Office and the US Securities and Exchange Commission. His work included banking litigation arising out of the financial crisis, shareholder disputes, and fraud and corporate misconduct matters involving private and publicly listed companies.
He has a particular focus on acting for high-net-worth individuals and family offices, including the management of reputational risk and cross-border considerations, and on advising overseas clients navigating common law jurisdictions.

- Acting for Slater and Gordon in its fraud and breach of warranty claims against Watchstone PLC.
- Acted, at Slaughter and May, in the separate representation of the chairman of Bumi plc in a section 994 unfair prejudice petition (2013).
- Acting for the registered shareholder in multi-billion-pound litigation concerning ownership of Wind Energy Holdings, Thailand’s largest wind energy company.
- Acting for the Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand.
- Acting in a confidential shareholder matter concerning an ASX-listed company.
