Private Wealth Disputes
Overview
Disputes within families and family offices carry pressures ordinary commercial litigation does not: relationships, reputation and privacy are engaged alongside the money. Our clients require resolution and discretion in equal measure.
We are structured for both. Your matter is conducted by the partners you meet, and the circle of those who touch your affairs remains small for its life.
The disputes in which we act typically involve an allegation of misconduct: a fiduciary who has preferred his own interests; a trustee who declines to account; an investment procured by misrepresentation; a family company controlled to the exclusion of those entitled to its value. That is our field.
Our work includes
- contested trusts and estates, and trustees who will not account;
- elder financial abuse, including the misuse of powers of attorney;
- control of family companies: oppression, deadlock, succession disputes;
- investment disputes, including misrepresented and illiquid investments;
- fraud on family offices, whether by insiders, advisers or counterparties;
- urgent asset preservation: freezing orders, injunctions.
